Still figuring this thing out
Yesterday was a bit busy with Valentine's Day coming up and the holiday weekend with friends coming in town. I was finishing up some details on my coffee bar, grocery shopping for hosting meals, and planning and cooking Valentine's Eve dinner. I also got a quick cardio session in the garage while wrapping my mind around some financial strategies and meal planning long term for dietary goals. So all that to say, I missed writing yesterday and I'm sure it'll happen again in the future.
I think my tactic for writing in the future will be to write Monday through Friday with each day covering a different topic. Maybe Monday will be a weekend recap with some training plans for the week. Tuesday could be update on projects. Wednesday maybe some personal growth happenings. I'll figure it out as I go I guess. I don't want to be pigeon holed to one topic per day. If I want to share more I will, but I've got to have some strategy so I don't just ramble.
Yesterday I did listen to a podcast from Lt. Col. Grossman on the Bulletproof podcast discussing some interesting insights on the desensitizing of our culture to murder through video games and how that links to juveniles committing homicide. Give it a listen if you get a minute. It involved a deep discussion on the importance of sleep, history of military training as well. There was a lot of information packed into that hour.
I kept it simple for the Valentine's Eve dinner. I chose to do it then because it was more of a surprise, the steak I purchased at Publix was fresher, and knowing I was going to be preparing for guests Thursday and Friday. I did an inch and a half thick cut New York strip steak in a cast iron pan with butter, Worcestershire, soy sauce, ranch seasoning, and pepper to a medium/medium-well cook. I paired that with an organic spring mix salad with balsamic vinaigrette, and blackened asparagus in a cast iron with salt, pepper, olive oil, roasted garlic and herb seasoning from McCormick and some Parmesan cheese. I also bought a bottle of Mirassou Cabernet Sauvignon.
I've got a short work week this week because of the aforementioned holiday weekend. Going to head home and move the coffee bar in the house and do some furniture rearranging now that its in there. I'll do some yard work as well because the moles are popping up and grass is beginning to grow. Until next time...
